What's In A Name
2BLU
![]()
2BLU is made up of Bruce Andrews and George
Dudley. Bruce and George have played together for more
than two decades as a duo act. Their well crafted original blues charts as well
as their interpretation and
presentation of the Blues standards are second to none. This act consists of
George on guitars...Electric, acoustic
and hand crafted lap steels produced by his brother, Jack Dudley and Bruce Andrews
on Harmonica and vocals.
2BLU is a three time winner of the Magic City Blues Society Battle of the Blues
Bands which has advanced them to
the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee as world finalists in
the Duo competition.
2BLU+2
2BLU+2 is exactly what the name implies.
This configuration has everything 2BLU offers with the addition
of
Jack Dudley on bass, usually a hand crafted upright electric, and Dave Gowens
on percussion. Since we like
to call this a semi-acoustic version, Dave's instrumentation usually
consists of no more than a Cajon, hand shakers,
rattles, washboard and maybe a Djembe drum. Dave tries to keep this set up rather
organic.
2BLU and The Lucky Stiffs

The Lucky Stiffs is the original name of our band. While we started primarily
as a Blues band with our own twist
of funk and soul, things evolved into more of a Jam Band. This allowed us the
freedom and range to
showcase the wide rang of talent within the band. We have recently evolved once
again to focus on the
2BLU name as a base line to build on. This gives us continuity and the ability
to adjust the configuration
based on the venue. 2BLU and The Lucky Stiffs varies in configuration depending
on the venue.
The full electric configuration includes a full drum kit played by James Dudley
(yes, another Dudley...Jack's Son)
and a full Percussion rig including congas, bongos, djembe, timbale, washboard
and assorted auxillary hand percussion
and animal parts.
The slightly lighter version might include less percussion, but also a Suitcase
Drum Kit. No Joke, it is a Samsonite suitcase
used as the kick drum, a hi hat, one ride cymbal, snare drum and one mini timbale
as a tom. If you didn't see it you would never
know it is not a small kit. The best part is that the entire kit is carried
in the suitcase.
Now you know why we have three different names for the same group of guys...
